Terms and Conditions
These terms apply every time you buy a ticket for the New Tecumseth Catch the Ace raffle. Buying a ticket means you accept them.
Eligibility
- You must be 18 years of age or older to buy a ticket or to claim a prize. #
- You must be physically located in the Province of Ontario at the moment of purchase. Residency elsewhere does not qualify you, and being an Ontario resident who is outside the province at the time of purchase does not qualify you either. #
- Members of the raffle committee, volunteers involved in conducting the draw, and members of their households may not purchase tickets or claim prizes. #
- We may ask for government-issued photo identification and proof of age or address before a prize is paid. A prize may be withheld if this is not provided. #
- Tickets bought in breach of these conditions are void. Where a ticket is voided, the purchase price is returned and no prize is payable on it. #
Tickets, price and purchase
- The price of one ticket is $5.00 CAD. There is no discount for buying more than one. #
- A ticket is valid only for the single weekly draw for which it was purchased. Tickets do not carry forward to later draws. #
- When you buy a ticket you select one sealed envelope from those still in play. If the ticket you hold is drawn, that is the envelope that will be opened. #
- Ticket sales for a draw close at 2:00 p.m. Eastern Time on the day of that draw. Orders completed after that time are entered into the following week’s draw. #
- A ticket is issued only once payment has been received and confirmed. An incomplete or failed payment does not create an entry, whatever the website may have displayed at the time. #
- It is your responsibility to give a correct email address. Ticket numbers and prize notifications are sent to the address given at purchase. #
The draw
- Draws take place every Thursday at 7:00 p.m. Eastern Time. Draws for weeks 1 to 26 are held at the Alliston Legion; draws for weeks 27 to 52 are held at the Tottenham Legion. #
- One ticket is drawn at random from all valid tickets sold for that week. #
- The holder of the drawn ticket wins the weekly prize, and the envelope selected on that ticket is opened in public. #
- If the card inside the envelope is the Ace of Spades, the holder also wins the progressive jackpot, and the series ends. #
- If the card is anything other than the Ace of Spades, that card and that envelope are removed from play, and the progressive jackpot carries forward to the following week. #
- The draw is conducted under the supervision of the licensee. The result recorded by the licensee at the draw is final. #
- Results are published on this website after each draw. #
Prizes and how proceeds are used
Every dollar of ticket sales is divided in a fixed proportion set by the licence.
- 20% of that week’s ticket sales is paid to the holder of the drawn ticket. #
- 30% of that week’s ticket sales is added to the progressive jackpot. #
- 50% of that week’s ticket sales is retained by the Rotary Club of New Tecumseth for the charitable purposes approved under the licence, including support for local healthcare in New Tecumseth. #
- The progressive jackpot begins at $2,500 and grows each week until the Ace of Spades is drawn. #
- Prizes are paid in Canadian dollars. Prizes are not transferable and cannot be exchanged for anything else. #
Notifying and paying the winner
- We contact the winner using the email address and, where given, the telephone number provided at purchase, normally within two business days of the draw. #
- The winner must confirm their identity and eligibility before a prize is paid. #
- Prizes are normally paid within fifteen business days of the winner being confirmed. #
- Being contacted is a courtesy, not a condition of the prize. Winning ticket numbers are published on this site, and it remains your responsibility to check them. #
Unclaimed prizes
- An unclaimed prize is held for six months from the date of the draw. #
- We make reasonable efforts to reach the winner during that period, using the contact details given at purchase. #
- If a prize remains unclaimed after six months, the licensee applies to the AGCO for approval to direct the funds to an approved charitable recipient, as the licence requires. #
Refunds and errors
- Tickets are final once issued. They cannot be refunded, exchanged or cancelled, and this includes a ticket bought by mistake. #
- If you are charged more than once for the same order, or charged for an order that produced no ticket, contact us and the incorrect charge will be refunded. #
- If a technical fault causes a ticket to be issued in error, or issues a ticket for an envelope no longer in play, that ticket is void and the purchase price is refunded. #
- Where the published information about a draw is wrong — a wrong jackpot figure, a wrong date, a wrong envelope status — the records kept by the licensee prevail over what appeared on the website. #
Publishing winners’ details
- By taking part you agree that, if you win, we may publish your first name, last initial and town, together with the ticket number, envelope number and prize amount. #
- We do not publish your street address, telephone number or email address. #
- A photograph of the prize being presented may be published only with your separate agreement, which you are free to withhold. #
- Our full Privacy Policy explains how the rest of your information is handled. #
Use of this website
- You may not use automated tools to buy tickets, and you may not attempt to interfere with the operation or security of this site. #
- Access may be suspended where we reasonably believe these terms have been breached or that the raffle is being abused. #
- The site is provided as it is. We do not guarantee that it will be available without interruption, and we are not liable for indirect loss arising from its use. #
- These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the laws of Canada that apply in it. #
- If any part of these terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining parts continue to apply. #
